Janice is a Resolution Accredited Specialist in public and private law children. Janice has experience in a range of cases including divorce, matrimonial finances, public and private children law. Janice is a member of Resolution and is committed to resolving matters without the need for court proceedings. She is also a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children and practises in all areas of family law.
Janice has experience in dealing with matrimonial finance matters from the very beginning to their conclusion, whether that be in correspondence or at a court hearing. Janice has also worked within the area of public and private children law since 2011.
As part of her children caseload, Janice represents parents, grandparents and other family members. Janice also regularly deals with various types of experts including psychiatrists, psychologists, independent social workers, sexual risk assessors, interpreters, toxicology laboratories and actuaries.
Janice has also represented vulnerable clients, including those with mental health difficulties and learning difficulties, and those who require the assistance of intermediaries or the Official Solicitor.
Janice represented a mother in care proceedings, and successfully applied for a residential mother and baby assessment. This assessment was positive and ultimately avoided the removal of the newborn baby from her mother, both in the long and short term
Janice successfully secured the discharge of final care orders which meant the children were returned to their mother’s care
Janice advised a father through the Public Law Outline (PLO) process which resulted in the local authority stepping the case down
Janice represented a grandmother in care proceedings who was caring for her grandchild in the interim. The grandmother was successful in having a special guardianship order made in her favour, securing her grandchild’s long term placement with her
Janice represented a father in care proceedings, and was successful in securing the child’s long term placement with him after spending a period in local authority foster care and despite never having been in the father’s primary care before
Janice prepared a separation agreement to separate a divorcing couple’s finances before the decree absolute
Janice acted for a respondent wife and successfully secured a favourable financial settlement which enabled her and the parties’ child to be properly rehoused
Janice represented a respondent husband in finance proceedings which concluded with an agreed settlement in which he received financial benefit
